Louisiana s Q3 personal income falls further than national average – New Orleans CityBusiness

Louisiana’s Q3 personal income falls further than national average Personal income in Louisiana fell more than the rest of the nation’s during the third quarter of the year as federal pandemic relief dwindled, according to a federal report released Thursday. State personal income fell 13.8 percent at an annual rate, compared to an average nationwide decline of 10 percent, according to the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis. Annualized growth rates show the rate of change that would have occurred had the pattern observed during a given three-month period been repeated over a full year. Net earnings actually went up during the third quarter, the BEA report shows. But that increase was more than offset by a larger decrease in transfer receipts, which include government release payments.

Labor officials provide Dec 17 update on unemployment benefits, benefits fraud

In total, approximately 3,900 people were filing an initial claim or reopening their unemployment claim. About 13,900 weekly certifications, or continued claims, were filed last week for state unemployment, with another 17,200 weekly certifications filed under PUA. In addition, about 12,500 weekly certifications were filed for the federal Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation program and 85 weekly certifications were filed for the state Extended Benefits program. Weekly certifications must be filed by claimants every week in order to continue to receive unemployment benefits. The majority of the increase in state unemployment claims is due to seasonal layoffs that occur every winter, such as in construction and landscaping, according to a news release.
