The Cabinet has signed off on a plan to significantly ease Covid-19 restrictions over the coming weeks, after a meeting this afternoon.
The plan is based on the acceleration of the vaccination programme and Covid-19 cases remaining low, with a senior Minister warning it will be revised if there is a spike in infections.
It includes the lifting of the ban on intercounty travel, greater freedoms for vaccinated people, a relaxation of restrictions on outdoor gatherings, and the reopening of personal services and outdoor hospitality.

A staged and incremental reopening of society next month offers the Republic a pathway out of the Covid-19 pandemic, Simon Coveney has said.
A raft of plans to be signed off by Cabinet later today will see the reopening of the country over May and June.
Health chiefs and political leaders held talks late last night to discuss the National Public Health Emergency Team’s recommendations on reopening social and economic life.
The secretary general didn t give any specifics as to when he would waive the pay rise until, saying he would do so until the economy begins to recover and unemployment falls.
Asked on Prime Time if Donnelly knew when Watt intends to take the increase, Donnelly responded: He s waived it on two criteria. So, the answer would be when those criteria change.
Prime Time presenter Sarah McInerney later asked Donnelly that if, in two or three months time the population is vaccinated and the employment situation has improved, and as such the economy, if Watt would take it then.
Donnelly responded: Really that s a decision for him obviously. It s really not for me to comment on.
