FISU s #MascotMonday contest returns with mascots from individual universities Friday, 16 April 2021 The International University Sports Federation (FISU) is bringing back its #MascotMonday campaign on social media - this time pitting the mascots of individual universities against one another. University sport fans were able to vote for their favourite World University Games mascot last year, with Bravo, the bear mascot from the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade, emerging victorious. Eight university mascots have been chosen for the next bracket, which will get underway on Monday. (News photo Peter Crowley) LAKE PLACID As Kris Cheney-Seymour gave a tour of the enormous new Mountain Pass Lodge at Mount Van Hoevenberg on March 14, at one point he said, without breaking his matter-of-fact tone, this is now “one of the greatest Nordic venues on the planet.” He also said the investment will pay off for a century to come. “We’ve built a venue that, for recreation, healthy lifestyle and sport, will last 100 years,” he said.

Share Rhodes University 2020 Student Representative Council President, Katlego Mphahlele has been selected as the 2021 ambassador of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). FISU was founded in 1949 with its key driver to expand the role and reach of university sport around the world. The FISU games are the largest global sports events for student-athletes. They are held every two years in different cities around the world, bringing together athletes from over 150 countries and have a programme that includes over 25 sporting codes. The Federation believes that sports values and sports practise work in perfect synchronicity with one’s university studies. They offer opportunity and inspiration to students around the world to play sport. FISU’s motto is “excellence in mind and body”.
