Ocean Power: The Missing Link | SafeHaven com

That’s because not everyone has this potential, and Mother Nature will likely dictate who will  control this energy bastion. Europe has some of the most developed ocean power facilities for electricity generation. Yet, in 2019, ocean energy accounted for a mere 0.06 percent of all the electricity generated from renewable sources. We may have just reached the tipping point, though. That point when tidal and wave power finally go mainstream … and even begins to rival conventional renewables such as solar and wind. We could be on the edge of a “blue” energy explosion the holy grail of climate change.  And Europe, for one, is ready to go as blue as it possibly can.

Frontiers | Plausible Scenarios for Thai Energy Businesses in the Next 30 Years

Energy Research Institute, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand The energy sector is currently facing different challenges. It is necessary for business leaders to understand the forthcoming changes that will affect their businesses in order to prepare themselves for any uncertainties and take advantage of new opportunities. This paper identifies changes that are expected to have an impact on Thailand’s energy system in the next 30 years and explores plausible scenarios for Thailand’s energy sector under such changes. The study starts with an examination of global and local circumstances. The examination pinpoints a focal issue as “to achieve sustainable development goals (SDG) by 2050”. Then, STEEP analysis is implemented to identify business drivers in social (S), technological (T), economical (E), ecological (E), and political (P) aspects. Subsequently, consultations with stakeholders are arranged to finalize the critical uncertainties. Policy and technology are fo

How will China s CO2 emissions goal affect global economy and its own? | Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide

How will China’s CO2 emissions goal affect global economy and its own? China has rolled out new interim rules for the national carbon emissions trading market that went into effect on Monday, in an effort to speed up carbon emissions cuts under the Paris climate accord to achieve net-zero emissions in 40 years. China pledged for the first time to have CO2 emissions peak before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced last September in an address delivered via video link to the UN General Assembly. Xi reiterated the pledge when delivering a speech at the virtual Davos Agenda event held by the World Economic Forum last Monday, saying that “China is drawing up action plans and taking specific measures to make sure we meet the set targets.”
