EDSPC Celebrates National Economic Development Week
Economic Development Sedalia-Pettis County (EDSPC) is celebrating National Economic Development Week May 9-12 by highlighting significant partners, success stories and the organization’s overall impact on the region’s economy.
National Economic Development Week was created in 2016 to increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities and increase the quality of life in communities. The week is coordinated by the International Economic Development Council, the largest professional membership organization for economic development.
Jessica Craig, EDSPC executive director, said the recognition week is designed to celebrate the contributions of positive economic development and provide an opportunity for economic developers to explain the role of their profession in the local community. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the EDSPC was unable to celebrate last year.

Tax Day was delayed this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, which disrupted the economy and complicated tax filing for businesses and individuals. Many people had to report unemployment income or payments from a variety of jobs, for instance.
