Byrne Equipment Rental conducts equipment training in Dubai
DUBAI, 5 days ago Byrne Equipment Rental, a leading supplier of rental equipment including power rental solutions in the GCC region, recently carried out the first IPAF operator PAL card training in the Middle East. Based on a new module from the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), the training focused on the safe operation of all mast climbers, and not limited to just one OEM specific. The IPAF training programme is globally recognised, developed by leading industry professionals and available in multiple languages across a worldwide network of more than 750 IPAF-approved Training Centres.
Serious Labs announced that Energy Safety Canada (ESC) has approved the use of its mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) VR training simulators, meeting a need for technologically modern and safe training methods.
ESC, the safety association for Canada’s oil and gas industry, works with hundreds of authorized training providers (ATPs) across the country to deliver safety training and services.
Serious Labs’ VR simulators were successfully audited twice: once to inform the creation of MEWP operator coursework specific for ESC and a second time to determine if the simulator course met its requirements as an option for practical evaluation. As a result, workers can now complete the practical component in a VR environment through one of Energy Safety Canada’s ATPs. The certificate of completion is valid for three years and shows that workers have been assessed to ESC standards.

Despite the contingency that resulted from COVID-19 and the impossibility of meeting with many people, Haulotte Latin American subsidiaries - Haulotte México, Haulotte Brasil, Haulotte Argentina, and Haulotte Chile - are still very active. The technical staff is asked to provide customized training sessions, either face-to-face or online, to update customers’ knowledge.
Haulotte subsidiaries in Latin America remain attentive to their customers and organize comprehensive training courses complying with the social distancing measures according to their needs.
Recently, Haulotte México provided technical training for Cementos Moctezuma, a company specialized in the manufacturing and sale of cement and concrete. The two-day program took place at the client site and focused on MEWPs’ operation and safety.

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has released new Toolbox Talks, designed to share specific safety messages on work sites, which include two short presentations aimed at explaining the use of personal fall-prevention equipment (PFPE) when using mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and what to look for when checking PFPE before use.
The presentations are available in English with other languages to follow soon. These presentations join the existing suite of Toolbox Talks, which supplement the simple safety messages contained in the popular series of Andy Access posters for work sites. All are free to download and available to users of MEWPs or mast climbing work platform (MCWP) equipment.
