Ranil Jayawardena, Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Department for International Trade independent .uk The government of the United Kingdom is exploring a range of options to secure green financing to aid efforts by the Maldivian government, towards a cleaner, renewable energy generation, says Ranil Jayawardena. Jayawardena, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of Department for International Trade of the UK made this remark while answering questions posed at the UK Parliament on April 13 regarding trade with and investment in the Maldives fishing industry as well as the provision of export opportunities for tuna fishermen in the island nation through an Economic Partnership Agreement. As such, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of Department for International Trade highlighted that officials are presently exploring “pragmatic options” to endorse enhanced trade and investment with Maldives, described by Jayawardena as an important partner for the UK.
