February 1, 2021 Share Denmark defeated Sweden 26-24 in the finals of 2021 World Men’s Handball Championship at the Cairo Stadium Sports Hall to emphatically retain their status as World Champions. The first half was an even contest and ended at 13-13. 16 minutes into the second half, Denmark took the lead, Denmark goalkeeper Niklas Landin made some outstanding saves to maintain the lead. Denmark joined Sweden, Romania and France in the team’s list that claimed the World Championship title two times respectively. The Danish legend Mikkel Hansen was named the MVP, Most Valuable Player Award, after leading his country to a second world title in a row.
