Lebanese goods stranded on border allowed into Saudi Arabia

Cairo: Saudi authorities have allowed Lebanese goods stranded on the border into the kingdom, a Lebanese official has said. Last week, Saudi Arabia announced a ban on Lebanese fruit and vegetable products, saying they were used in drug smuggling to the kingdom. Lebanese Interior Minister Mohammed Fahmi expressed thanks to Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed for what he described as a “good, humanitarian gesture” of permitting the goods stranded on the border and at the Saudi port of Jeddah into the Saudi territory. Fruit and vegetables The official said in a statement he is “certain that the kingdom of benevolence will spare no effort to reconsider its recent stance [the ban]”.

Saudi Arabia: Charity drive raises over SR270 million

Cairo: A charity campaign launched in Saudi Arabia has collected over SR270 million in donations, local media reported. The campaign kicked off Friday evening with Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz donating SR20 million and Crown Prince Mohammed pledging SR10 for non-profit charity works. Soon, generous donations flowed from government officials, businesspeople and private establishments in the kingdom. By Sunday, the total has soared to SR 273 million handled through Ehsan (Charity), a Saudi integrated portal aimed to manage donations in the kingdom, according to released figures. Ehsan was launched last month by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) that Prince Mohammed heads its board.

Saudi King, Crown Prince donate SR30m to charity

Cairo: Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed have donated a total of SR30 million for non-profit charity works, Saudi media reported. The monarch and Prince Mohammed donated SR20 million and SR10 million respectively through Ehsan (Charity), a recently launched Saudi integrated portal aimed to manage donations in the kingdom. Ehsan was launched by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) that Prince Mohammed heads its board. SDAIA chief Abdullah Bin Sharaf Al Ghamdi hailed the royal gestures. “This generous donation reflects interest of the country’s leaders in knowing citizens’ needs and devoting themselves to giving and spending for the common good,” he said in media remarks.
