In Eid message, Saudi monarch hopes for world peace

Cairo: Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz has voiced hope that peace will prevail in the world and that the globe will overcome health, social and economic repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic. In an address marking Eid Al Fitr, the Saudi monarch also called for observing health measures aimed at curtailing the spread of COVID-19. “We pray to Almighty Allah that people of the whole world will overcome the tribulations they have experienced, that peace will prevail in all parts of the globe and that this Eid will be an occasion to get over pains and to emerge from the health, social and economic repercussions that have hit the world due to the coronavirus pandemic,” he added in the statement read out on his behalf by Acting Information Minister Majid Al Qasabi.

Saudi King, Crown Prince register for organ donation

Cairo: Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman have registered in a major organ donation programme in a gesture aimed to motivate people to follow their example. The humanitarian step shows care for patients with end-stage organ failure and seeks to encourage Saudi citizens and foreign residents to sign up for the organ donation of the Saudi Centre for Organ Transplantation in view of its extreme importance in giving hope to patients whose lives depend on organ transplants, the Saudi news agency SPA reported. The gesture also comes to boost standards of public health and medical sector efficiency in conducting such sophisticated operations and contributing to their success rates, it added.

Saudi King approves mosque construction in Islamabad

Cairo: Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz has approved the construction of a massive mosque project in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, the Saudi news agency SPA reported Saturday. The site will be named the Mosque of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the official title of the Saudi monarch. Situated at the Islamabad-based International Islamic University’s hostel, the mosque will have two separate prayer areas for male and male worshippers planned to accommodate 4,000 males and 2,000 females respectively, in addition to outdoor courtyards of capacity of up to 6,000 worshippers. Cairo: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan held talks on boosting ties between the two countries and efforts against terrorism. The talks were held following the arrival of the Pakistani premier for an official visit to the kingdom. During the talks held in the Saudi city of Jeddah, emphasis was laid on the depth of relations between the kingdom and Pakistan and the importance of expanding their cooperation and coordination in all fields, the Saudi news agency SPA reported. Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and Khan signed an agreement establishing a Saudi-Pakistani higher coordination council.
