HSE probe after part of roof at £35m housing development in Port Glasgow slipped down

BUILDERS have had to strip off part of a roof at a new £35m housing development after it slipped down. The timber roof on a block at the site in Port Glasgow slipped while being lowered into position by sub-contractors, with the damaged section clearly visible. The site at the former St Stephen s High School between Kilmacolm Road and Southfield Avenue was sealed off while the affected part was made safe. Health and safety watchdogs have launched a probe into the incident, the Tele can reveal. A total of 224 new homes for social rent are being built at the site.
