1/1 A SOUTHAMPTON gym facing legal action for allegedly breaching lockdown rules appears to be flouting covid restrictions again. Based in Millbank Street in the Northam part of the city, Spartans is reported to have opened during the November lockdown. Despite the city being classed as Tier 4, gym-goers could be seen walking in and out of Spartans Gym earlier today. In November, Josh Gosling appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court accused of opening the gym during the second coronavirus lockdown. He pleaded not guilty to two charges of failing to comply with reasonable instruction given by a relevant person in England. Gosling, of Tickner Close, Botley, previously represented himself and protested his innocence.

Two Nigerian men, Matthew Okorie and Sunday Sylvester, have been charged to court over alleged attempts to hijack an oil tanker in the English Channel in the UK.
Okorie, 25 and Sylvester, 22, were alleged to have endangered the Nave Andromeda with both appearing at Southampton Magistrates Court on Saturday.
They were part of a group of seven Nigerian men who were arrested after being discovered on board the huge oil tanker on October 25.
A SOUTHAMPTON woman attacked four police officers who were called to an altercation. Phoebe Starr bit one officer and headbutted another during an incident on September 19, a court heard. The bite is said to have broken the officer’s skin while another suffered a bruised nose. According to police, officers were flagged down and called to reports of an altercation in Bullar Road. The 23-year-old of Queen’s Terrace who was “under the influence” at the time was charged with four counts of assaulting an emergency worker to which she pleaded guilty. Mitigating, solicitor, Nigel Cozens said the event was a complete one-off and her first recollection was when she woke up in the police cell.
