Award-winning operator Inspired Villages Ampfield Meadows will create 149 later living homes and address the shortage of suitable homes for over 65s in the area. To commemorate the start of work, MP for Romsey and Southampton North, Caroline Noakes joined several members of the local council, including Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Mark Cooper. The village centre will boast a range of facilities, including a swimming pool and wellness centre, as well as a brasserie, hair and beauty salon, shop and library – all of which will be open to both residents and the wider community.

Romsey and Southampton North: Moving because of Covid

Property listings MORE than one in 20 people in Romsey and Southampton North moved house because of the coronavirus pandemic, a survey suggests. Research by the think tank Demos asked 20,000 adults in parliamentary constituencies across Great Britain how the Covid-19 crisis had affected where they want to live. In Romsey and Southampton North, 7 per cent of people surveyed said they had recently moved house or were planning on doing so for reasons related to the pandemic. Across Great Britain, 9 per cent of survey respondents said the same. The Chartered Institute of Housing said many people have re-evaluated where and how they want to live, as lockdown highlighted the importance of affordable, well-located, good quality housing.

Figures show how much Hampshire businesses have borrowed in Bounce Back Loans and CBils

Research has shown the scale of Covid borrowing among Hampshire’s businesses BUSINESSES in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have borrowed more than £1.6billion in government Covid loans. Research shows 40,879 offers were made to businesses in the county under the Bounce Back Loan initiative or the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loans. The first repayments on the earliest loans were due last month. The highest borrowing locally was in Winchester, where 2,048 businesses were offered a total of £61.7million under the Bounce Back Loan scheme and 163 were offered £41.2m in Coronavirus Business Interruption Loans (CBils), according to a study by insolvency company Business Rescue Expert. That adds up to £102.9m for 2,211 businesses.
