After facing defeat in Damoh Assembly bypoll in MP, the BJPâs state unit has issued a show-cause notice to former minister Jayant Malaiya for indulging in âanti-party activitiesâ and suspended the primary membership of his son and 5 mandal presidents, a party functionary said on Saturday. The Congress on Sunday retained the Damoh Assembly seat with the party candidate Ajay Tandon defeating his former colleague and nearest BJP rival Rahul Singh Lodhi by a margin of 17,097 votes.

New Delhi: The Congress Working Committee held a virtual meet on Saturday to review the Covid-19 situation in the country and discuss the steps taken by the government to curb it. The party also reviewed the economic fallout of the second phase of the pandemic and the election process in the five Assembly polls.
Ahead of the eleventh round of meetings between the farmers and the Centre, a crucial meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) began here on Friday to discuss the farmers agitation among other issues. Also likely to be discussed is the schedule of the election of a new party president. Congress General Secretary and national media in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala said, CWC meeting begins. Congress President Sonia Gandhi addresses the CWC. According to party sources, the virtual meeting being chaired by Sonia Gandhi will discuss Arnab Goswami s alleged chat leak related to the national security, the Covid-19 situation apart from the ongoing farmers agitation.

NEW DELHI: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Friday (January 22) trained her guns at the Narendra Modi-led central government, accusing it of displaying shocking insensitivity and arrogance going through the charade of consultations. She further attacked the Centre for its handling of COVID-19 pandemic and thereby pushing millions into poverty.
Addressing a crucial meeting of the Congress Working Committee, Sonia alleged that it was now abundantly clear that the three farm laws were prepared in haste and Parliament was consciously denied an opportunity to examine in any meaningful detail their implications and impacts.
