14-year-old shot outside Saginaw store

SAGINAW, MI Police are investigating the shooting of a Saginaw teenager.
About 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, a 14-year-old male was walking past a store on Cooper Street when he suffered at least one gunshot wound, police said.
The teen was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. His status was unavailable early Wednesday morning.
Police did not release additional details.
The Saginaw Major Case Unit, comprising detectives from the Michigan State Police and Saginaw Police Department, are investigating the shooting.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call them at 989-759-1289.

However, it is unlikely he’ll face time behind bars.
Austin M. Losee, 22, on April 22 appeared before Saginaw County Circuit Judge Janet M. Boes and pleaded no contest to the lone count he faced of failure to stop at a personal injury accident resulting in serious injury or death.
The charge is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
In a prior Cobbs hearing, Boes indicated she would sentence Losee to probation with no initial incarceration. A Cobbs hearing sees a judge outline the likely sentence should a defendant be convicted.
Afternoon drive-by shooting in Saginaw leaves woman dead, man wounded

SAGINAW, MI Police are investigating an afternoon double-shooting in Saginaw that left one woman dead.
The drive-by shooting occurred at 2210 Hosmer St. on Saginaw’s East Side around 2 p.m. on Friday, May 7. A man and woman had been seated in a vehicle when they were fired upon, police said.
The 23-year-old woman in the vehicle suffered fatal wounds. The male driver was also struck by bullets and hospitalized.
The Major Crimes Unit, comprising detectives from the Michigan State Police and Saginaw Police Department, are investigating the shooting. No arrests have been made as of Saturday morning.

SAGINAW, MI A federal lawsuit against the city of Saginaw and several of its police officers related to the fatal shooting of a man inside his home has reached a six-figured settlement.
U.S. District Judge David M. Lawson on Thursday, May 6, signed an order approving a settlement of $510,000 in the suit of Mia Blaisdell versus the city, Saginaw Police Chief Robert M. Ruth, Sgt. Nathanial Voelker, and officers Jordan Engelhart, Robert Adams, Kathryn Jeffers-Mercer and Vincent Jackson. Prior to signing that order, the judge dismissed Ruth and the other individuals named as defendants.
