10 marquee meaches on Cape Cod

Beauty is in the eye of the beachgoer. That s particularly true on Cape Cod, where everyone has a favorite sandy strand. It could be the grand sunsets or gentle water that brings you back to a certain beach time after time. Perhaps you like the big waves of the Atlantic-facing beaches, or exploring the endless low-tide flats on the bayside. By my count, there are more than 100 beaches on our lovely peninsula. But which ones are the marquee beaches the ones that deserve epic TikToks, selfies and postcards? That, my friends, is a tough assignment. But I am leaping into the breach!

$82 million budget goes before Sandwich, MA voters

SANDWICH A budget of more than $82 million, a plethora of zoning articles and a number of private citizen petitions are set to go before voters at Monday s annual town meeting. Voters will be asked to approve an $82,431,491 budget for fiscal 2022. That figure represents about a 3% increase over the current fiscal year.  Town Administrator George Bud Dunham said the words “flexibility” and “patience” were the key terms used when planning the new budget, which he said is in good shape. Between the Finance Committee and the Board of Selectmen, town officials set up a conservative budget that left out many big-ticket items.

Will you still be able to jump off the Sandwich Boardwalk when it s designed? Town officials hope so

SANDWICH The Sandwich Boardwalk is a major tourist attraction, but plans are in play to replace the iconic structure despite opposition from local advocacy groups. In an effort to garner feedback from the public, the Sandwich Board of Selectmen held a virtual workshop Thursday evening on the proposed boardwalk plans. “The biggest issue is climate change and resiliency,” said Wendell Kaslow, an architect who specializes in historic structures who was asked by the town to oversee the project design.  The new boardwalk would look vastly different, with a higher elevation, but Kaslow said the necessary changes to the structure are practical more than cosmetic.
