The Santa Fe County Public Safety Virtual Job Fair is a great place to start your search and learn how to become a community hero! Positions are available as sheriff’s deputies, volunteer and career firefighters, emergency communication specialists (dispatchers), detention officers, and nurses. The virtual event takes place Saturday, April 17, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at santafecountynm.gov/jobfair. Each session will begin with an overview of public safety as well as a quick detailed presentation on that specific department. Immediately following the presentation there will be 30 – 45 minutes for questions and answers.

Copyright © 2021 Albuquerque Journal The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is seeking public input as it reviews its current use-of-force policy with an eye to replacing it with a more modern version. The office announced last week that it will be seeking public comment on the use-of-force policy from March 1 until March 20. As of Thursday, the office had received eight comments, spokesman Juan Rios said. “Law enforcement depends on the partnership with the community, not only in reference to instances for the use of force … but also we depend on that partner partnership to solve crime to keep neighborhoods safe,” Sheriff Adan Mendoza said. “So it only makes sense to get the community involved.”

Associated Press New Mexico is seeing its daily COVID-19 case totals decline. But health officials have been worried about whether the Christmas holiday could lead to another spike as it takes two to three weeks for infections to manifest. On Monday, the state reported an additional 700 confirmed cases, bringing the total to more than 138,650 since the pandemic began. The 36 additional deaths bring the death toll to 2,380. Almost one-third of the latest deaths included people at long-term care facilities and one inmate at the Guadalupe County Correctional Facility. Vaccinations of health care workers as well as staff and residents at long-term care facilities is ongoing.
