Possible Assault Suspects Detained At Gunpoint In Canyon Country
Two possible assault suspects were detained at gunpoint Tuesday evening in Canyon Country, officials said.
At around 7:40 Tuesday evening, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detained two assault suspects at gunpoint near Whites Canyon Road and Ashboro Drive just north of Todd Longshore Park in Canyon Country, according to Lieutenant James Royal with the station.
“There were two guys matching the description of some suspects who were wanted for felony crimes over the past few days,” said Royal.
The two detained individuals were later revealed to not be the specific persons in question.
Santa Clarita Man Arrested After Selling Drugs Accompanied By Toddler
A Santa Clarita man was arrested Monday on child endangerment charges after he was allegedly in possession of drugs for sale while accompanied by a toddler.
On Monday around 4:15 p.m., deputies made contact with an individual that was reportedly in possession of narcotics for sale, said Sgt. Brian Shreves, with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Bureau.
“He was in possession of marijuana and mushrooms for sale and was conducting the sales with his 2-year-old child,” Shreves said.
Due to the ongoing investigation Sheriff’s officials are not able to release any additional information into the arrest of the individual, Shreves said.
Detectives Offer Tips On How To Avoid Santa Clarita Valley ATM Scams
Detectives with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are offering tips to residents to avoid being the victim of an ATM scam.
Detectives have been receiving reports of ATM skimmers being discovered at different locations in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Facebook post.
“ATM skimmers are credit and debit card readers hidden within an ATM card reader,” Sheriff’s officials said.
Scammers typically compromise the machine, allowing them to have access and steal data, according to Sheriff’s officials.

A Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station motorcycle deputy was critically injured in a traffic collision with a big rig in Valencia Wednesday morning.
The deputy, identified by Sheriff Alex Villanueva as Chad Perrigo, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was reportedly stable but in critical condition, according to sheriff’s officials.
“(The) semi-truck, 18-wheeler, did a left-hand turn right in front and failed to yield for the oncoming traffic, the motorcycle. It was a head-on collision,” Villanueva said in a video posted on the Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page. “It’s going to be a long road to recovery and our thoughts and prayers to him and his family.”
