The number of reported DUI arrests decreased by four compared to the previous weekend, and the overall number of drug- and alcohol-related arrests remained the same as the prior weekend at 24 arrests.
Some other arrests over this past weekend include one arrest made for an illegal speed contest, one for illegal possession of tear gas, one for breaking the Santa Clarita Municipal code, and one arrest made for the manufacturing and selling of metal knuckles.
Just over 65% of reported individuals arrested over the weekend gave home addresses outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, an increase of 10 total people compared to the previous weekend.
Case Continues For Newhall Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of A Peace Officer
The man accused of shooting a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy in Newhall in 2017 returned to court Thursday, only to have the setting for his preliminary hearing pushed to next month.
Monolito Guerra, of Newhall, who was 29 at the time of the crime, allegedly shot and wounded Deputy Albert White at an apartment complex on Bottletree Lane on Nov. 28, 2017.
A woman had called authorities to report that someone pointed a gun at her as she was getting out of her vehicle, LASD officials reported. Deputies also learned that there was possibly a second suspect involved.

Construction is well underway on the new Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in Canyon Country, with officials excited to move into the “state-of-the-art” facility after occupying their old space for nearly half a century.

Despite being months away from completion, a significant amount of progress has been made on the new Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, located just south of the intersection of Golden Valley Road and Centre Pointe Parkway.
When any sort of theft occurs on campus, school officials on-site report it to their School Resource Officers, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station assigned to each school. However, these reports do not prevent thefts from occurring before they happen.
“Somebody has to do something, because it’s costing all of us money to replace and repair the damage, and it’s the community’s money,” Manley said.
Manley encourages all residents to call the Sheriff’s Station if they see anyone on the roof of a school campus during nights or off-hours, assuring that he would not send maintenance workers up there during those times.
