Remember when we couldn’t wait for 2020 to end? Ah, the good old days, amirite?
Last week I told you that this week I’d be sharing some of Noozhawk’s exciting plans for 2021. Well, I need to postpone that till next week as we’re awaiting an update from our Newspack partners on our transition to the WordPress.com and Google News Initiative universe.
That timeline, which I expect will be completed in the first quarter, will determine the scheduling of several other projects we have in development.
In the meantime, thank you again to our Hawks Club members who made such a huge difference with their financial commitments to Noozhawk last year, and for already getting this year off to such a strong start.

Francisco ‘Don Pancho’ Andrade
If you were a resident of the Eastside of Santa Barbara, had a connection with the Central Coast Soccer League or avocado harvesting over the last 60 years, there’s a good chance you knew Francisco Andrade or Don Pancho.
He had a quiet, kind and generous presence. There was often a line of young men at his front door asking for a loan, to play soccer, or to join one of his avocado harvesting crews.
Some people serve as glue for their community. Don Pancho was one of those people.

Santa Barbara High School senior Maxine Borders designed a poster that won first place in the school s Don Your Mask campaign.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara High School students are leading a school and community campaign to get people to follow coronavirus health guidelines, like wearing a mask.
The campaign is called Don Your Mask, a nod to the school s mascot, the Dons. About 30 students recently created artistic posters as part of a creative contest to spread the Don Your Mask message.
Three poster designs were picked as winners this week, with senior Maxine Borders winning first place. Sophomore Brianna Yanez won second place and senior Santiago Bailey-Musacchio took third place.
