The campaign also includes the city’s Parks and Recreation Department with signage in parks and trail heads across San Antonio reminding residents to keep pets safely tethered.Jerry Lara / San Antonio Express-NewsShow MoreShow Less

SAN ANTONIO – It’s a new beginning for a San Antonio dog owner and his labrador after being reunited for the first time in 10 years.
Animal Care Services reconnected them Wednesday after Samson, the lab, went into their care last month, along with six other dogs.
“Samson went missing a decade ago and it broke his family’s hearts,” ACS said in a statement on social media. “They did everything they could to find him, but never did. Still, they never forgot him.”

SAN ANTONIO The Fourth of July is an exciting time for most of us, but it can be a stressful time for your animals. Animal Care Services is sharing advice for pet owners ahead of the holiday weekend.
Many of us are willing to do just about anything for our pets, but when the fireworks start going off outside your window and they get scared, it can be hard not to feel helpless.
“This can be very, very frightening for both dogs and cats,” said Lisa Norwood, public relations and outreach manager for Animal Care Services.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas â Under the City of Corpus Christi s new ordinance, all pets must be registered with the city and microchipped.
The change is one of several ways Corpus Christi Animal Care Services aims to increase the Live Release Rate - which is the rate at which animals leave the shelter alive through adoption, return to owner, or rescue.
The same ordinance is already in place in San Antonio, Texas where a microchip led to a reunion that would make anyone shed tears of joy.
