Ripon Elementary School teacher Texas Keo has been named the 2021 San Joaquin County Teacher of the Year by the San Joaquin County Office of Education.
Keo, who has been teaching at Ripon Elementary School for the past 14 years, is a model to follow.
She currently teaches transitional kindergarten through third grade as a Title 1 Response to Intervention teacher for reading and math. Keo described herself as determined, committed and a fighter, all which are easy to see in her everyday work ethic.
“We have a transitional kindergarten class. Then they go into kindergarten … then they go into first grade, second grade and third grade,” Keo added. “If they started our school in transitional kindergarten in TK, I would have them for five consecutive years. … I would be able to track their data and see their growth. SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. San Joaquin County is stuck once again in the red tier of California’s reopening plan. But unlike the stall they had in the purple tier, the state s reopening is in sight, regardless of their tier status.
In early April, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the tier system, which has defined the way counties have reopened for months, could be going away on June 15. Should the state meet the criteria on June 15, everyday activities would be allowed, and businesses would be open with modifications.
