It has been over three months since a South Bay mom was reported missing from her Chula Vista home. The Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) on Wednesday provided updates on the investigation.
CVPD announced a formal partnership between the San Diego County District Attorney s office, the FBI, and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) with the goal of bringing May Maya Millete, 39, home to her family or bringing justice to her family regarding her disappearance. CVPD has been investigating Maya s disappearance since she was first reported missing by her sister on the evening of Jan. 7, 2021. That day, Maya had planned to take her three children, ages 4, 9 and 11, on a trip to Big Bear for her daughter s birthday.
A man died early Sunday after being shot several times in Chula Vista, police said.

When CVPD officers got to the area, they found a man on the ground. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, but he soon died.

The driver of an SUV fled after striking and seriously injuring a pedestrian Friday afternoon near the Fashion Valley mall, police said.
The alleged hit-and-run collision occurred about 4 p.m. on Friars Road just west of state Route 163 as the man stepped into a crosswalk heading away from one of the mall’s parking structures, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.
The driver of a blue or black Chevrolet Blazer was headed east on Friars Road and initially stopped at the stop sign, Heims said in a news release. But then the SUV continued forward, struck the pedestrian and sped away.
