Best Buy has agreed to pay $633,570 to four California counties, including San Diego, to settle allegations that its stores misrepresented prices and failed to disclose aspects of its return policy, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.
Best Buy did not admit liability, but as part of the settlement will be required to institute changes to make sure the problematic business practices detailed in the consumer protection lawsuit do not happen again.
The settlement requires Best Buy to pay $558,570 in civil costs and penalties and $75,000 in restitution. The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office will receive $132,266.
