San Francisco Mayor London Breed said Friday that the city might be able to reopen soon because its coronavirus transmission rate has dipped.
Breed tweeted that San Francisco could soon start to emerge from its state-ordered lockdown because the city’s so-called reproductive rate is at 0.99. A reproductive rate represents how many people an infected person can transmit the virus to.

Several celebrities attended and performed at Joe Biden s inauguration on Wednesday, and many of those celebrities took their own private jets to get there. They didn t even carpool.
A celebrity couple who attended Biden s inauguration reportedly took a private jet to D.C. despite the couple s hardline stance on the issue of climate change.
Celebrities Chrissy Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend, were spotted boarding a private jet in Los Angeles, California, the Daily Mail reported.
Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez also took her own private jet to D.C. where the 51-year-old performed before the small crowd.
Biden promises a return to normalcy. Is America ready to go there? [San Francisco Chronicle]
Jan. 20 Many Americans will exhale at 9 a.m Wednesday, relieved to have survived the Donald Trump presidency. Four years of chaos and lies and the presidential encouragement of America’s most malevolent elements will end when Joe Biden takes the oath of office.
But is America ready for what Biden promised: a return to normalcy?
“That’s the big question: Can we return to normal after the Trump presidency?” said Elaine Kamarck, author of “Why Presidents Fail and How They Can Succeed Again.”
“Everybody wants a return to some kind of normalcy, but given all the stuff that Trump got away with, people are wondering if that’s possible,” said Kamarck, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington.
A politically motivated smear: Canada’s Globe and Mail blames “Marxists” for discredited racialist 1619 Project
The
Globe and Mail, Canada’s “newspaper of record,” last month published a scurrilous, politically motivated smear against Marxism. Authored by Konrad Yakabuski, one of its leading columnists, and titled, “The new Marxists rewriting US history,” the
Globe op-ed claims that the
New York Times ’ 1619 Project a right-wing racialist reinterpretation of American history was inspired and authored by Marxists.
This is absurd and manifestly so. The
New York Times is the daily most identified with the Democratic Party, one of the two parties of Wall Street and US imperialism, and as such an irreconcilable opponent of Marxism and socialism.
Joe Biden campaigned on pledges to unite the country and defeat the pandemic. But his nominee to be secretary of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra, is a partisan culture warrior who undermines both pledges.
