One of the many victims of the deep freeze crippling Texas is getting some help from the San Francisco Zoo.
Icy waters along the Gulf Coast of Texas are cold stunning sea turtles, leaving them unable to move, stranded and at risk of drowning.
This week, more than 2,600 turtles were rescued around South Padre Island, the barrier island near the Mexico border.
CNN reported that on Wednesday, Texas Game Wardens rescued at least 141 turtles from the area, leaving turtles of all sizes rested on the deck of its large rescue vessel awaiting transfer to nearby facilities.

Just as beneficial microbes in the human gut can be affected by antibiotics, diet interventions and other disturbances, the microbiomes of other animals can also be upset. In a rare study, a researcher with the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (
SOEST), determined the skin microbiome of an endangered frog was altered when the frogs were infected by a specific fungus, and it did not recover to its initial state even when the frog was cured of the infection.
