Health care workers in San Bernardino County began receiving the COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday.
Five high-risk, front-line health care workers at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center are among the first in the Southern California county to receive the first doses.
The county received 15,600 initial doses of the Pfizer vaccine, which was federally approved for emergency use. The arrival of the vaccines provides hope among health care workers in their 24/7 efforts to help people get better and stay safe, officials said in a press release Wednesday morning.
Apple Valley man dies after being struck by two vehicles on Highway 18

A 55-year-old Apple Valley man was struck and killed by two vehicles on Highway 18 early Tuesday morning.
The man was only identified as being of Asian descent in a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department statement.
According to the sheriff’s department, emergency personnel responded shortly after midnight to an area of the highway east of Rancherias Road in Apple Valley.
Video taken at the scene shows that the incident occurred near the Taco Bell in a shopping center that also houses a Walmart, O Reilly Auto Parts, McDonald s and Albertsons Grocery.
