UPDATE (10:08 p.m.) - A San Luis Obispo police officer was killed in a shooting on Monday while officers were serving a search warrant at an apartment on Camellia Court.
A second officer who was shot was taken to a local hospital and is reportedly stable.
City officials say the suspect was killed by police.
âThis is a tragedy beyond measure for all of those who serve and care about our community,â said Derek Johnson, San Luis Obispo City Manager. âOur deepest condolences go out to the family. We are devastated by this loss,â he added.

May 10 Update 7:10 p.m.:
Two officers were shot while serving a search warrant Monday afternoon at an apartment in the area of South Higuera Street and Margarita Avenue, according to a Police Department news release.
The suspect is dead, and there is no threat to the public at this time, according to the release.
The department gave no details about the condition of the officers.
It is asking people to avoid the area while an investigation is being conducted.
Additional information is expected to be released on the city s website when it becomes available.
SLO police identify officer killed in Monday shooting
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo Police Department has identified the officer who was killed in the line of duty Monday as well as the man suspected of killing him.
The police department says Detective Luca Benedetti was the officer shot and killed Monday evening while serving a search warrant at a San Luis Obispo apartment. Benedetti was a 12-year law enforcement veteran, the police department said.
Detective Steve Orozco was also injured in the shooting and was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released. He is expected to make a complete recovery.
