–On Jan. 26, 2021, in San Luis Obispo, investigators from the San Luis Obispo County Counter Human Trafficking Team (which is comprised of an investigator from the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office and a detective and sergeant from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office), California Highway Patrol/ Coastal Division, and the FBI were answering online sex ads as part of the statewide effort to curb human sex trafficking under the umbrella of “Operation Reclaim and Rebuild.” Detectives answered a sex ad in which the female appeared to be very young, likely under the age of 18. Ultimately, a “date” was arranged and the female subject from the photographs in the sex ad showed up. The female was detained, and after significant investigation, was determined to be a 15-year-old at-risk missing juvenile out of Nevada.

The suspect is described as an adult male, 18-25 years old, medium build, dark hair, black ball cap with the letters “SF” on the front. The male subject was also wearing a black t-shirt with the Raiders football team logo. –The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who is linked to a case of check fraud and mail theft in southern San Luis Obispo County. On Dec. 23, 2020, a male suspect entered the Guadalajara Meat Market in Grover Beach and fraudulently cashed a check that was stolen from a mailbox in the 1400 block of Old Oak Park Road in rural Arroyo Grande between Dec. 15 and Dec. 20. This suspect may be associated with a number of thefts from mailboxes that have occurred in the county.

–The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office announced that the first SLO County Sheriff’s Rodeo, originally scheduled for May this year has been postponed until May 2022. A statement on the SLO County Sheriff’s Rodeo announced, “It is with great sadness that we must postpone the SLO Sheriff’s Rodeo until May of 2022. Due to current Covid-19, we are unable to have a live audience for such an event.” The rodeo, to be held in conjunction with the San Luis Obispo County Cattlemen’s Association annual playday, will be the first SLO County Sheriff’s Rodeo. The rodeo is scheduled to be held at the Paso Robles Event Center Main Arena. Events will consist of team roping, barrel racing, breakaway, steer wrestling, sort and rope, ranch rope and brand and team roping. The rodeo is designed to celebrate the western way of life, the support of rodeo, the support of law enforcement and to give back to the community.
