A car fire slowed traffic along Highway 1 near the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff s Office on Thursday.
It happened just before 10 a.m. in the northbound lanes at Kansas Ave.
The car, which had pulled over to the right shoulder, was in flames when CAL FIRE firefighters arrived.
One lane of the highway was closed while crews worked to extinguish the fire.

ARROYO GRANDE Paul Flores was named for the first time this week as the “prime suspect” in the 25-year mystery of the disappearance of Stockton college student Kristin Smart, as the latest of many searches ended Tuesday with no comment from authorities on whether it yielded any results.
Flores, 43, the last person seen with Smart in May 1996 as he reportedly walked her back to her dorm room following a party has long been called a “person of interest” in the case. On Monday, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release announcing the new search that Flores “remains the prime suspect” in Smart’s disappearance, the San Luis Obispo Tribune reported.
