NM Athletes Named to SICL Teams

Five boys and three girls earned spots on the South Iowa Cedar League baseball and softball teams following 2021 competition. Madison McKay, Zoe Deucore and Regan Grewe earned honors along with Blake Readshaw, Dylan Klinker, Sam Terpstra, Ty Kelderman and Grant Smith.
McKay and Deucore earned a first team nod. McKay earned the spot as a pitcher with a 13-9 mark. She was joined as a first team pitcher with Sigourney’s Carly Goodwin and Denali Conover of Lynnville-Sully. McKay was second in the conference with a school record 174 strikeouts in a season. She was fifth in the league in wins with 13 with a 2.46 ERA.

Hawks Edge NM 1-0
SULLY – Lynnville-Sully scored a run n the bottom of the third inning and held the Warhawks of North Mahaska scoreless to take a 1-0 victory in South Iowa Cedar League play.
North Mahaska outhit the Hawks 5-3 but could not get the key hit when needed. Blake Readshaw hit a double while Sam Terpstra hit two singles and Ty Kelderman and Grant Smith singled.
The contest was the fourth in five days for the Warhawks as NM evened the season mark at 2-2 and 2-1 against SICL teams. Readshaw (1-1) took the loss on the mound. He threw six innings giving up a run on three hits and two walks. He struck out six.
