Cambodia celebrates first International MSME Day

The Kingdom on June 27 celebrated the UN’s International Micro-, Small- and Medium-sized Enterprise (MSME) Day for the first time, with the aim of raising awareness to these businesses’ need for support towards development and success.
The inaugural MSME Day was observed in a video conference on “Recovery and Resilience of Micro and Small Enterprises in Covid-19” via Zoom, with the participation of about 200 representatives of various ministries, businesses and development partners.
The conference was organised by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, in cooperation with the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and under the auspices of minister Cham Prasidh.

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation plans to submit a Draft Law on Small and Medium Enterprises to the Ministry of Economy and Finance soon for further review and input, after a technical working group completed the document.

UNIDO and Royal Government of Cambodia sign Programme for Country Partnership
PHNOM PENH, 10 December 2020 – United Nations Industrial Development (UNIDO) Director General, LI Yong, and Cambodia’s Senior Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, Kitti Settha Pandita Cham Prasidh, have today signed a Programme for Country Partnership.
The signing of the Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) constitutes a landmark in UNIDO’s support for Cambodia’s goal of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030. The programme will support the development of agro-value chains, including those with linkages to the tourism sector, and will also foster industrial diversification and innovation, including through special economic zone development.
