Health Officials Report 24th COVID-Related Death, 36 Hospitalizatins, 43 New Cases for Tuesday, Dec. 15
MAYVILLE – The
Chautauqua County Health Department is reporting another
COVID-19-related death in the county. In addition, the county has seen its highest level of COVID-positive hospitalizations to date with 36 total. There were also 43 New Cases of COVID-19 reported across the county for Tuesday, Dec. 15.
According to the Chautauqua County Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard, which was updated Wednesday afternoon, the fatality involved an individual in their 80s. No other information was provided.
The death marks the 24th COVID-related death in the county since the start of the pandemic in March.

MAYVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) â The Chautauqua County Health Department says it has seen an increase in Hepatitis A cases in the county in 2020.
The health department says 19 cases of Hepatitis A have been reported in 2020, from 2017 to 2019 the county experienced an average of one case per year.
âWhen you hear about Hepatitis A, you may think about contaminated food or water but in this country, it is more commonly spread from person to person,â said Christine Schuyler, Public Health Director. âVaccination is the best way to prevent infection and the spread of disease and in conjunction with the New York State Department of Health, we are collaborating with community partners to vaccinate close contacts of positive cases as well as people who fall into high-risk groups.â
County Heath Officials Report 59 New COVID-19 Cases for Monday, Dec. 15
MAYVILLE – The
COVID-19 for Monday, Dec. 15.
According to the
Chautauqua County Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard, the total number of known active cases as of Monday was 433, 12 fewer than what had been reported for Sunday.
There were also 25 people hospitalized in the county who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 – two higher than the previous day. And the 7-day Average Positive rate for the entire county was 8.2% – three-tenths of a percent higher than what was reported for Sunday.
Of the 59 new cases from Monday, 13 were out of Jamestown. The total number of active cases in Jamestown was 111, by far the highest in the county.

Area nursing homes in Chautauqua and western Cattaraugus counties have confirmed 11 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic through the end of November, federal data shows.
A study by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services shows that 377,510 nursing home residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through Nov. 29. Area nursing homes in Jamestown, Greenhurst, Gerry, Westfield, Gowanda and Dunkirk were listed.
Since March, four residents at Absolut Care of Westfield have tested positive for COVID-19, while Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has had three residents test positive. Two residents at Lutheran Social Services and one resident at Heritage Park in Jamestown have received positive test results. One resident at Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has also tested positive.
Health Officials Report 23rd COVID-Related Death, 174 New Cases for Friday, Dec. 11 through Sunday, Dec. 13
MAYVILLE – The

COVID-19-related death in the county. In addition, there were 174 New Cases of COVID-19 reported in the County For Friday, Dec. 11 through Sunday, Dec. 13.
According to the Chautauqua County Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard, which was updated Monday afternoon, the fatality involved an individual in their 90s. No other information was provided.
The death marks the 23rd in the county since the start of the pandemic.
The total number of known Active Cases as of Sunday was 441, the same total that was reported for Thursday. There were also 23 people hospitalized in the county who’ve tested positive for COVID-19, the same number as what was reported for Thursday. And the 7-day average positive rate for the entire county was 7.9% – up 1.6 percent from Thursday.
