Man prosecuted after muck left on road in Offaly causes accident Reporter: );   ); A MAN was prosecuted at Tullamore District Court after muck left on a road in Rahan caused a car crash. Defendant Ken O Shea, 36, Lakefield, Clonfanlough, Athlone, had been carrying out work on February 5 last year at The Derries, Rahan, Tullamore. Sergeant James O Sullivan told the court James Buckley was driving his vehicle at Silver Bridge, Rahan and there was a large amount of muck on the road as a result of excavations carried out by a tractor. Mr Buckley drove over the muck and crashed, sustaining serious injuries. The defendant had been doing some work for the owner of the land and had not cleaned the road.

Court hears man on €10,000 Offaly theft charge is sleeping in tent in Dublin Reporter: );   ); A JUDGE was told on Wednesday a man accused of stealing over €10,000 worth of equipment would not be appearing at Tullamore District Court because he was living in a tent in Dublin. Defence counsel Suzanne Dooner said 34-year-old Robert Kelly was homeless and had slept in that morning in the Phoenix Park. Ms Dooner asked for a further remand for the accused, who though he had addresses at 52 Fr Paul Murphy Street and 146 Greenwood Park, Edenderry, had family in Dublin. Judge Catherine Staines said it was the second time he had not turned up in court.
