Police are responding to fatal crash - Pinelands

Northern Territory Police are investigating a pedestrian death in Pinelands last night. Shortly after 7.30pm police were notified that a woman had been struck by a vehicle on Stuart Highway. Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said, “The woman was struck by several vehicles in quick succession on a dimly lit section of the road.” All three drivers stopped as lawfully required and awaited police. Two drivers failed roadside saliva indication drug tests and were subsequently arrested for confirmation drug testing. A 24-year-old female driver was later confirmed to have cannabis within her system and immediately suspended from driving for 24 hours. She was released from custody pending further investigation.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today charged with the following; Dangerous Driving Causing Death Possess Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug – Traffickable Quantity Drive with Prohibited Drug in Body (Methamphetamine). Police located an amount of drugs in close proximity to the crash site. The drugs were seized and will be forensically tested. It will be alleged that the man hid the drugs in the location immediately following the crash.
