UPDATE: Charles County Sheriff s Deputies Make Arrest in Bryans Road Murder | Southern Maryland News Net

January 19, 2021 Harold Leonard Turley, 24, of Bryans Road UPDATE: On January 19 at approximately 9:39 a.m., officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of South Hampton Drive at Weston Drive in Bryans Road, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Fredrick Markeith Young, 24, of Bryans Road, with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Citizens and paramedics attempted life-saving efforts; however, the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. After learning the suspect ran into a nearby home, officers set up a perimeter. They established communication with the people inside and were able to convince them to exit the home. Since it was not clear if anyone else was still inside, officers from the Emergency Services Team (EST) and Hostage Negotiators Team (HNT) responded. While we remember the many difficulties and challenges, we come away from the past year grateful and humbled. Amidst a global pandemic and continually changing public directives and orders, the men and women of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were able to continue operations to provide services to the citizens of Charles County. Our officers on the front lines responded to calls and were recognized for meritorious service and lifesaving work. Most importantly, our community came together, on many occasions, to show support for one another. Here is a positive look back at 2020:

December 23, 2020 On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, shortly before 3:00 a.m., two suspects entered a convenience store on Berry Road and announced a robbery while armed with a gun. The suspects stole an entire cash register and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Burgess with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at (301) 609-6494 or burgessh@ccso.us.
