Man who shot glass marbles at cars on Monterey County highways sentenced to prison MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) - A man suspected of hitting vehicles with glass marbles along Highway 101 and Highway 156 in Monterey County was sentenced today to 15 years in prison. Charles Lafferty quietly stood in front of a Monterey County Judge as the name of his victims were called. George De Carvahlo was one of the victims and was present this morning to give a statement. “But at the end of the day, I ll never forget, I will forgive him, said De Carvalho. But I will never forget the acts that he did to so many people.” According to the court documents, De Carvalho s vehicle was struck on December 5, 2019. He says he was on his way home from work when the attack happened.

A recent drop in the county’s case rate puts it on track to enter the less restrictive tier in the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. But all of the metrics used to monitor the spread of COVID-19 in communities must remain stable or drop. A move into the Yellow Tier would mean restaurants and gyms can expand indoor operations to 50% and bars could open indoors at 25% capacity. We will find out whether the county moves next Tuesday. Santa Cruz County s COVID-19 case rate missed the mark for the Yellow Tier again this week, which means the soonest it could be eligible is May 19.
