By Advertiser Reporter A SHOWJUMPING coach has appeared in court accused of rape. John Sillett, 54, an Olympic show jumping coach, is accused of raping a woman between January and November 2015. He also faces allegations of sexually assaulting a girl under 13 in 2010 and sexually assaulting a woman in Marlborough, France and Spain. The alleged assaults are said to have taken place between 2010 and 2017. Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning, Sillett, of Farley Hill, Wokingham, entered no pleas to the 12 charges. However, he indicated he would be pleading not guilty at the crown court. Dressed in a dark jacket and jeans, he spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, address and pleas. He was bailed by chairman of the bench Gail Chilcott to appear before Salisbury Crown Court on June 4.

Last week, A Wiltshire Police spokesman told the News: John Sillett, 54, from Wokingham, has been summonsed to appear at court. He is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court on May 5 where he will face a total of 12 charges, all relating to sexual offences. These offences are alleged to have occurred between 2010 and 2017.

Swindon Magistrates Court A WESTBURY man is accused of locking his girlfriend in her house during a campaign of physical and verbal abuse lasting several days. Anthony Watson, 22, is said to have taken the teenager’s phone and keys after locking her in her flat last month. Prosecutor Kate Prince told Swindon magistrates on Monday it was claimed Watson had assaulted the woman, accused her of being unfaithful, made repeated demands to see her phone and verbally abused her. Police were called to the woman’s flat on April 29 after a passing youth allegedly saw her call for help from a window.
