BREAKING: CBN fires all First Bank directors, reintstates Adeduntan as MD

Daily Post Nigeria Published CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, announced their query on Thursday when he addressed the media. Emefiele further announced the reinstatement of Adesola Adeduntan as First Bank Managing Director. The apex bank declared that the appointment of Gbenga Shobo was done without its approval. Emefiele said CBN has been involved in management changes involving First Bank in the last 5 years to stem the slide regarding the status of the bank. The Governor expressed surprise that First Bank effected sweeping changes in executive management without engagement and/or prior notice to the authorities. He noted that the action sends a negative signal to the market on the stability of leadership on the board and management.

…Begins consultation with stakeholders Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, Thursday, directed all Chairmen of the 17 local government areas of the state, their deputies and the 260 elected Councilors “to immediately and permanently relocate to their respective local government areas and wards” as part of efforts of the government to ensure adequate security for lives and property.  The directive, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, was part of the outcome of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s consultation with relevant stakeholders in the state on security, which commenced on Wednesday. Aroh disclosed that the governor, Thursday, held consultation with the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi and other members of the House; members of the State Executive Council; Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of all the 17 local government areas; and the elected Councilors in the 260 electoral wards in the state.
