Saskatoon advocates for people with HIV hope declining COVID-19 case numbers will allow the health system to step up the fight against Saskatchewan’s “other pandemic.”
Cheryl Barton of the Persons Living with AIDS Network of Saskatchewan said HIV testing and care has been “fragmented” as resources like contact tracers were marshalled to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The Saskatchewan NDP has introduced a bill that would limit anti-abortion protests within “bubble zones” around clinics.
NDP status of women critic Jennifer Bowes said Wednesday that the aim of the bill, entitled An Act to Provide Safe Access to Abortion Services, is to ensure Saskatchewan women can access abortions free from harassment or intimidation.

“No patient or healthcare and service provider in this country should ever face harassment and intimidation for accessing or providing an essential service,” Bowes said in a news release. “This legislation, if passed, will instil confidence in patients and providers that their constitutionally protected healthcare rights are protected.”
