An extended wait for reopening of leisure centres and pools in Ceredigion

Leisure centre reopening in Ceredigion brought forward - but not until next month

Leisure centres in Ceredigion remain shut, despite Welsh Government guidance CEREDIGION has moved forward its date for the re-opening leisure centres after heavy criticism of its plans to keep facilities shut until July. But Council-run leisure centres and swimming pools across the county, will still remain shut until at least June 7. Facilities in every other part of Wales have already re-opened in line with Welsh Government guidance on containing coronavirus. Gyms, fitness facilities centres, spas and swimming pools have reopened in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire from 3 May. Ceredigion MP Ben Lake, of Plaid Cymru, has expressed disappointment in the Plaid-led council s decision to delay the re-opening of leisure facilities.

Youngsters can log in to Ceredigion s Fit in 5 exercise programme

THE Active Young People Team at Ceredigion Actif has started broadcasting bilingual daily activity sessions for Ceredigion’s children and young people. The sessions are an immediate response to the school closures after the Christmas break. The sessions are broadcasted live at 9.30am every Monday to Friday and will continue until February half term. Each session can be viewed live through YouTube or Facebook and are also saved to Microsoft Teams on Hwb so that they can be accessed or repeated at a later date. Every day, the Active Young People staff follow the ‘Ffit yn 5’ programme that Ceredigion Schools are already familiar with whereby five different activities are chosen each day. Each activity is shown by the instructor and the children can work together at the same time to complete the session.
