Nosh Box Takeout Fundraiser Supports Pittsfield Schools

PITTSFIELD, Mass. A local educational organization is supporting Pittsfield schools with tasty bites that can be enjoyed in the comfort of home. The Pittsfield Education Foundation is hosting a takeout-to-donate event called Food for Thought to benefit students and teachers of the Pittsfield Public Schools. This is the organization s fourth annual fundraising event and it has a goal of raising $10,000. Participants will be able to order a Nosh Box for $40 from KJ Nosh catering containing a dinner for two with an assortment of hors d oeuvres prepared by chef Mike Mongeon. The funding we raise supports different efforts that the Pittsfield Education Foundation focuses on, board member Tim Coe said. The Pittsfield Education Foundation is not affiliated with the Pittsfield Public Schools, organization, but we re supporters of students in Pittsfield Public Schools, what we raise will go towards primarily teacher-requested grants for programming for programs and curriculum

BCC Student Selected for Commonwealth s 29 Who Shine Program / iBerkshires com - The Berkshires online guide to events, news and Berkshire County community information

PITTSFIELD, Mass. Danielle Harriott, a nursing student at Berkshire Community College (BCC) and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the surgical floor at Berkshire Medical Center, has been selected as BCC s honoree for the Commonwealth s 29 Who Shine program.    She will be honored on Thursday, May 13 at 2 pm by Governor Charlie Baker and the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education during a YouTube livestream event.   Launched by the Commonwealth in 2011, 29 Who Shine recognizes 29 outstanding public college and university graduates. Each honoree shows exceptional promise as a future leader and has a strong record of academic achievement and civic engagement.       But Amanda Davis, an adjunct nursing faculty member at BCC who mentors Danielle, said it was an easy choice to nominate her.

Health Sciences Early College Academy opening on El Dorado Campus Butler County Times Gazette Butler County Community College is expanding its Early College Academy on the El Dorado campus adding an opportunity for high school students to begin work on a CNA certification and an associate degree in nursing.  The college recently announced a second Early College Academy pathway on Butler’s El Dorado campus starting this August. meaning that high school students can start earning credits towards an associate degree in nursing.  “Anytime you give students opportunities for secondary education, it’s a great thing. said Teresa Tosh, superintendent for USD 490 El Dorado. I think there is a financial benefit for both students and parents. This academy taps into passions that they are actually interested in.”
