SRC offers Pharmacy Tech Program in Macomb

MACOMB The Spoon River College Office of Community Outreach is offering a Pharmacy Technician Program in Macomb this Fall. This affordable 12 week program prepares students for a career as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital setting. Classes will be held Wednesday Evenings, August 25th –November 17th from 6-10pm at the Spoon River College Macomb Outreach Center. In Illinois, obtaining a state license allows people to work as a pharmacy tech for two years. After two years, they are required to become certified by passing a national exam, administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This program at SRC will provide students with the basic skills necessary for an entry level career as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting. Duncanville High School Alum Pursues Career in Medicine
Gabriel Franklin says he discovered he wanted to pursue a medical career while he was a student at Duncanville High School.
“I knew I had an interest in science, but when I took my Anatomy and Physiology class, that really solidified it for me,” Gabriel said.
Gabriel says everyone at Duncanville High School, from his basketball coaches, band directors and teachers encouraged him to pursue his dreams.
“They’ve all been super supportive,” Gabriel said. “Whenever I had an idea or a new goal, they would push me toward that.”
