As good as it can be for movies, Disney+ has been quite lacklustre when it comes to television. There’s WandaVision, there’s The Mandalorian – and, if you have kids, there’s the excellent Bluey – but the rest of it has all been inessential. That all changes today, with the launch of Star, a new section of the platform that will bring in shows from FX, 20th Century Studios and 20th Television, as well as original offerings. In fact, such a glut.
This is what you should be watching.

Disney Plus has just gone through its biggest change yet. Included with the subscription is now Star, an entertainment platform that mixes movies and shows the likes of Disney Television Studios (20th Television and ABC Signature), FX Productions, 20th Century Studios and more.
This means that, thanks to Star on Disney Plus, hundreds of movies and show have been added to Disney Plus - that s a lot of things to watch!
UPDATE:
The Golden Globe winning Nomadland is heading to Star on Disney Plus on 30 April for no extra charge. This will be the same time the movie comes out in cinemas in the UK. The film, directed by Chloé Zhao, is a docu-fictional look at nomads in the US who are homeless from the 2008 economic crash. It stars Frances McDormand as David Strathairn, as well as the real life nomads that feature in Jessica Bruder’s acclaimed book.

Today marks the launch of Star. It’s a new section of Disney Plus for international audiences that will offer more mature R-rated films, TV shows from FX, and other shows and movies that Disney owns the rights to but don’t fit into Disney Plus’ family-friendly image.
Star is effectively Disney’s solution to the fact that Hulu doesn’t exist in international markets. It marks a way for the company to expand on the value proposition of Disney Plus to international customers with the most crucial currency any streaming service has to offer: a bigger library of content.
