J&J Vision and Menicon Tackle Myopia with Contact Lens Collaboration

Johnson & Johnson Vision is teaming up with Menicon, a developer of contact lenses to address myopia or near-sightedness in children. The pact calls for Menicon to develop the contact lenses that would manage the progression of myopia. The retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), a layer of pigmented cells in the retina, is essential for sustaining normal vision. Blindness due to RPE dysfunction, such as macular degeneration, affects about 200 million people worldwide.
