Almost 4,700 motorists called the RAC due to their car being stricken after driving through a crater in the road between January and March 2021 - the equivalent of 52 call-outs for pothole damage a day. The breakdown provider says the worsening condition of our roads is a consequence of an extremely cold winter with extreme weather and called on the Government to fix the broken funding system for local routes.
