KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet on Tuesday approved disbursement of a relief grant worth Rs4.021 billion among people affected by last year’s heavy monsoon rainfall through the mobile banking system.
Presiding over the cabinet meeting here, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that this would help the affected people to receive cash on showing their original computerized national identity cards (CNICs) to the mobile bank without going into the process of opening a bank account.

The Sindh cabinet approved a relief grant of over Rs4 billion on Tuesday for those who sustained losses during the 2020 monsoon rains. The cash is to be disbursed among the affectees through the mobile banking system.
Besides, the cabinet approved the establishment of an anti-encroachment police station in Tharparkar district and a proposal for universalised social security system in the province, and set up committees to review the recruitment policy for teaching and non-teaching staff and to review a proposal by the agricultural department seeking its own works unit .

Eight SED officials indicted in NAB reference
Two former Sindh special edu dept secretaries accused of making 294 illegal appointments

An accountability court indicted eight officials of the Sindh special education department on Friday in a reference filed against them accusing them of causing a loss of Rs250 million to the exchequer.
The officials include two former secretaries of special education department, namely, Muhammad Ali Shah and Noor Muhammad Laghari. The other officials who were indicted are former section officer Ashok Kumar, Muhammad Ali Khaskheli, Mushtaq Ahmed Abbasi, Khalid Suleman Khaskheli and Abbasi.
The eight defendants, accused of making illegal appointments, denied the allegations leveled against them. After they rejected the allegations, the court summoned National Accountability Bureau (NAB) witnesses on February 20.
Sindh to issue Benazir Mazdoor Card this month, says Saeed Ghani

Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani has announced that the provincial government is going to start issuing the Benazir Mazdoor Card (BMC) in the current month, saying the card is the first of its kind initiative by any province in the country for the welfare of the labourers.
Addressing a reception hosted for him by the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry here on Saturday, he said the BMC was as much a groundbreaking project for the welfare of deprived sections of the society as the initiative to launch the Banazir Income Support Programme some years back.
