SHC seeks details of illegal constructions in District Central

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday directed the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to submit a list of properties in District Central whereupon illegal constructions had been raised along with the details of civil and criminal cases with regard to such illegal constructions.
Hearing a petition against unauthorised constructions in the Garden area, a division bench of the SHC headed by Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi took exception to unauthorised constructions in the city and inquired SBCA officials about action being taken against such illegal constructions.
The high court asked the SBCA District Central director what action had been taken against unauthorised constructions in his jurisdiction. He informed the court that he had been recently transferred to District Central.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Saturday night warned that Cyclone Tauktae is likely to intensify further during the next 18-24 hours.
In an advisory posted on its website, PMD said that Tauktae may transform into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) during next 18-24 hours.
It is expected to move further in the northwest direction and reach Indian Gujarat by the afternoon/ evening of May 18.
Meanwhile, owing to the rain forecast, the Civil Aviation Authority has issued a high alert at the Jinnah International Airport.
A circular directs the concerned departments to ensure small fixed winged aircraft and rotary winged helicopters are properly weighed down with additional weights. It also asked that some aircraft be taken inside hangars for parking so they stay protected from strong winds.

In an advisory posted on its website, PMD said that Tauktae may transform into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) during next 18-24 hours.
It is expected to move further in the northwest direction and reach Indian Gujarat by the afternoon/evening of May 18.
It said the cyclonic storm has tracked northwestward at a speed of 18km and at 2100 PST it lay centered near latitude 14.5N and longitude 72.8E, at a distance of about 1,310km south-southeast of Karachi.

The old and crumbling buildings can come crashing down during the storm expected in the next couple of days warned the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) quoting report of its technical committee.
SCBA in a press release issued on Saturday warned residents of dangerous buildings to vacate their premises immediately to ensure safety of precious human lives.
According to a spokesperson for SBCA, the warning has been issued in view of the forecast of the Pakistan Meteorological Department regarding thunderstorms, strong winds and cyclone in the city.
