An extra £500,000 has been awarded to help survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse in Essex.
The funding has been awarded from the Ministry of Justice to the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex.
It will be used to fund four and a half full-time Independent Sexual Violence Advisors and 11 Independent Domestic Violence Advisors for a year. It has been indicated that the funding will be granted again for a further 12 months.
The advisors will be employed by Synergy Essex, Changing Pathways, Next Chapter and Victim Support and will work across the whole county.
A DETECTIVE has praised the brave victims of child sex attacker Sydney Jupp who has been jailed for nine years. He also urged anyone who has been abused to tell their story, urging them not to suffer in silence. Det Con Ian Burgess spoke after Jupp, 64, of Betony Crescent, Billericay, started his nine-year term. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life when he is released. Jupp committed the offences against his victims in the 1970s in Billericay. They bravely came forward to police in 2017 and officers began an investigation. Following extensive enquiries, Jupp was summonsed to court in October 2019.
