Padma Bridge’s last span installed making entire bridge visible

DHAKA, Dec 10, 2020 (BSS) – The last span (41st span) of the long-cherished Padma Multi-Purpose Bridge was installed today, making the entire bridge visible.
“The last span of the bridge was put on 12 and 13 pillars around 11:00am and with installation of the 41st span, a total of 6.15 km (6,150 meters) main structure of the Padma Bridge has become visible,” an official familiar with the process told BSS here today.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury was present during the installation of the span. He also visited Mawa dredging channel this morning.
Earlier, Project Director of Padma Multipurpose Bridge Md Shafiqul Islam said that they are hopeful about setting up of the remaining last span by December, adding, “Then the main structure of the mega bridge will be visible.”

The last span of the Padma Bridge is being installed on pillars 12 and 13 at Mawa point on Thursday morning linking both sides of the mighty Padma river as the country s people get closer to having their long-cherished dream come true.
With the installation of the span, a total of 6.15 km [6,150 meters] of the dream double-layer Padma Bridge will become visible.
The installation of the span marked as 2-F has been completed six days after the last one was installed.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Thursday said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has responded to all conspiracies by constructing the Padma Bridge.
“The entire country is grateful to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the construction of the Padma Bridge,” the state minister said this after witnessing installation of the last (41st) span of the Padma Bridge at the Mawa of Munshiganj.
The last span of the bridge was put on 12 and 13 pillars around 11am, said a press release.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina connected North Bengal with the mainland by building Bangabandhu Bridge… She (Prime Minister) is bringing 21 districts of the southern region under the direct road network by constructing the Padma Bridge,” he said.
